I approached the door with my picture on it, Electro ID in hand. As I got close, an indicator on the handle lit up, and my ID buzzed with a prompt to place my thumb on its fingerprint scanner and “slide to unlock.” So we really couldn’t get inside without these things… I didn’t know if that made me feel better or worse just yet.
I did what the screen said, and the door unlocked with a clunk.
The interior felt cramped for someone as tall as me, but it was neat and clean, if a little… fanciful. Like something from Star Trek, that’s what Aoi had said, right? A stylish desk and chair stood against the left-hand wall, and a narrow bed on the right.
I laid down on the bed to see if I would fit, and my feet hung off the edge… At least my legs weren’t as long as Riko’s.
There were shelves built into the walls as well, one holding book repair materials and one filled with– I took a closer look at the spines. Mostly literary classics with a few mystery and fantasy novels thrown in. All of them books I’d enjoyed or had on my reading list for some time… How did they know that much about me?
Towards the back of the room was a closet and a small bathroom. The closet contained enough clothes for a week or so– some shirts and pants and skirts, but mostly red turtlenecks. The bathroom was small and simple, containing only a toilet, sink, shower, and mirror cupboard for toiletries.
They even got my shampoo brand right?! Now that’s creepy.
Still nothing resembling bandages or a first aid kit, though… I need to keep exploring.
